The problem

Policies in a folder don’t keep residents safe

Procedures go out of date, night staff and agency workers never see them, and proving who has read what takes days before an inspection. SOP Care turns your SOPs into a living system your team actually uses.

A complete starter library

72 SOPs written for care homes in England, each with purpose, scope, responsibilities, step-by-step procedure, records and references.

Personalised in one sitting

Answer 52 setup questions once and the answers fill the gaps across every SOP, for the whole group or each home.

Read, check and e-sign

Staff read on any device, answer short check questions that confirm understanding, then e-sign with their password.

Reviews that never slip

Every SOP has a version and review date. You’re reminded before reviews are due, and staff re-sign when a new version is issued.

CQC-ready evidence

A compliance map against the five key questions and Regulations 9 to 20A, a readiness checklist and a downloadable inspection pack.

Secure by design

Two-step verification, encrypted connections, data separated by organisation and a full audit trail of every change and signature.

Each SOP shows the CQC topics and regulations it evidences, who must read it and how often it is reviewed.

Read & sign

Every shift, every carer, the same safe practice

  • Role-based SOPs for nurses, senior carers, care assistants, kitchen, housekeeping and maintenance
  • Agency and bank staff access that expires on the date you choose
  • Weekly reminders for anything outstanding

How it works

Up and running in an afternoon

Start your free trial

Choose a plan. No payment details are needed. Your account is created instantly with all 72 care home SOPs loaded. It’s free for 30 days.

Personalise and approve

Answer the setup questions — your leads, GP practices, pharmacy, safeguarding contacts and systems — then review, adapt and approve each SOP.

Invite your team

Add your staff, including agency and bank workers. They read and sign from any device and you track progress from your dashboard.

Beyond read-and-sign

SOPs your team uses at the point of work

Most SOP software stops at a signature. SOP Care turns procedures into the checks your team actually does every day, and keeps the evidence for you.

Interactive checklists

Run any SOP step by step on a phone: readings, photos, barcode scans, decisions and a signature. Out-of-range results are flagged to managers instantly. Ready-made for medicines rounds, fridge temperatures, hoist checks, fire alarm tests and a post-fall decision tree.

Works offline, installs like an app

Add SOP Care to a phone or tablet home screen. Checks keep working without signal and sync automatically when the connection returns.

Corrective actions (CAPA)

Every flagged issue becomes a tracked action with an owner, due date, root cause and fix: a complete corrective action log for your next inspection.

One-click inspector view

Pick the CQC standard or regulation being looked at and get the matching SOPs, sign-offs, checks and actions. Share it as a secure, time-limited link.

Mock inspection

An indicative readiness score from your own evidence, with the gaps to close first, so there are no surprises on the day.

Redline version control

See exactly what changed between versions, word by word. Staff re-sign major changes automatically.

Free SOP Health Check

Answer about 18 questions and get an instant risk score, with a prioritised plan of the gaps an inspector is most likely to find. No sign-up needed.

Questions care homes ask us

Are the SOPs written for care homes in England?

Yes. They are written for residential and nursing homes regulated by CQC and refer to current legislation and national guidance, including the Mental Capacity Act and DoLS, NICE guidance on managing medicines in care homes, and the infection prevention code of practice.

Are the SOPs ready to use straight away?

They are a complete, professionally structured starting point. Your setup answers fill in local details automatically, then your registered manager reviews, adapts and approves each SOP before staff sign it. Responsibility for your SOPs always stays with your organisation.

Can agency and bank staff sign SOPs?

Yes. Give them their own login, limited to the homes you choose and set to expire on a date you pick, so their signatures are recorded and access ends automatically.

Does it cover CQC’s new assessment approach?

SOPs are mapped to the five key questions and the fundamental standards (Regulations 9 to 20A), which are fixed in law. Topic wording follows CQC’s draft 2026 sector frameworks and will be updated when CQC publishes them in final form.

Does it replace our care planning or eMAR system?

No. SOP Care sits alongside them. Your SOPs refer to the systems you name in the setup questions, so staff know exactly where to record things.

How does payment work?

You don’t need payment details to start your 30-day free trial. If you decide to stay, choose Direct Debit through GoCardless or PayPal before the trial ends. If not, simply let it run out: there’s nothing to cancel.
